Wellbeing - Nettle Dhurrie Rug
Designed by Ilse Crawford
Wellbeing is the product of a comprehensive study of local fibers, natural materials and techniques. Designed by academic and creative director Ilse Crawford, this collection based on touch, craftsmanship and respect for the environment is made without bleach or dyes. Wellbeing takes us back to the basics, to a tactile beauty that awakens the senses and connects us with our inner selves.
The light and durable Wellbeing Nettle Dhurrie rug is surprisingly soft and its natural colour derives from the combination of nettle and jute.
The collaboration between nanimarquina and Ilse Crawford begun in April 2017. The set criteria for the collection included natural, sustainable and local fibers, hand spun, no bleach and no dyes. These requirements set the nanimarquina team to begin a deep investigation process and start working with a wide variety of materials, leading to a conscious, human-centric, sensorial and beautiful outcome. All the innovations applied have meant a step forward in nanimarquina’s body of knowledge in rug making.

100% Afghan wool
Hand-spun wool from indigenous sheep of Afghanistan. This fiber has a low environmental impact since the rugs are woven in nearby Pakistan.
Traditionally, wool is the most widely used material for rugs. Presenting key characteristics, wool offers quality, flexibility, and is 100% biodegradable. It is hypoallergenic, easy to care for, and ages well. In addition, it is considered a great thermal and acoustic insulator as well as naturally regulating humidity. Wool rugs help create cozy and comfortable environments.
