Charles & Ray Eames

Charles & Ray Eames Collection

Charles and Ray Eames are among the most influential design partnerships of the 20th century, working primarily with Herman Miller to produce furniture built around genuine material and manufacturing innovation — molded plywood, fiberglass, and die-cast aluminum construction techniques that were experimental when introduced and remain in production today. The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, introduced in 1956, remains their most recognized piece: a design meant to have "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt," built from bent plywood shells, leather cushions, and a cast aluminum base.

Alteriors is an authorized Herman Miller dealer, carrying authentic Eames-designed furniture for Canadian homes and design projects. Given how frequently the Eames Lounge Chair specifically is reproduced online — it's arguably the single most counterfeited chair in furniture history — buying from an authorized dealer is the only reliable way to guarantee genuine leather, correctly proportioned plywood shells, and Herman Miller's manufacturer warranty behind the piece.

Our team can help confirm current finish and leather options, and select Eames furniture is on display in our Ottawa showroom — worth seeing and sitting in before you commit, given how much the sit and proportion differ between an authentic piece and a copy. We ship authentic Eames-designed furniture across Canada.
