George Nelson

George Nelson Collection

George Nelson served as Herman Miller's design director for over two decades and was directly responsible for bringing Charles and Ray Eames into the company, while producing his own enduringly influential body of work — the Platform Bench, the Coconut Chair, and his sculptural Bubble Lamps, developed using a self-webbing plastic spray technique over a steel frame that remains distinctive and easily recognized today.

Alteriors carries authentic Nelson-designed furniture and lighting through our authorized Herman Miller dealership, sourced directly for Canadian homes and design projects. The Bubble Lamps in particular are frequently reproduced at lower quality, with different materials and proportions than the original — an authorized dealer guarantees you're getting genuine Herman Miller construction.

Our team can help confirm current availability and finish options for specific Nelson pieces. Select Nelson furniture and lighting is on display in our Ottawa showroom, worth seeing in person to appreciate the material quality that distinguishes authentic pieces. We ship authentic George Nelson designs across Canada for residential and commercial projects.
