Terms & Conditions
Effective date: August 12, 2026
These terms govern your use of alteriors.ca and any purchase you make through it. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
In these terms, "Alteriors", "we", "us", and "our" refer to Alteriors Contemporary Furniture Inc., operating as Alteriors, located at 2183 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B 7E8. These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy, and Return & Refund Policy, each of which forms part of your agreement with us.
We may amend these terms from time to time. Amendments take effect when posted here, and the terms in force when you place an order govern that order.
1. Using This Website
You may view the site and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
-
Use the site unlawfully, or in a way that infringes anyone else's rights.
-
Upload or transmit viruses, malicious code, or unsolicited commercial messages.
-
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its servers, or any connected system.
-
Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content, product data, or pricing.
-
Resell or commercially exploit information obtained from the site without our written permission.
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account. Please tell us immediately if you believe it has been used without your authorization.
2. Products, Finishes, and Descriptions
As an authorized dealer, we use manufacturer-supplied specifications and imagery wherever possible. Please note:
-
Colour and finish — natural materials such as wood, leather, marble, and stone vary from piece to piece, and screen rendering varies by device. Slight variation from what is shown online is normal and is not a defect. We recommend viewing materials in our showroom or requesting samples before ordering.
-
Dimensions — manufacturer measurements may carry small production tolerances.
-
Availability — most pieces are made to order. Manufacturers may discontinue products, change specifications, or revise lead times. Where this affects your order we will contact you and offer an alternative, a revised timeline, or a full refund.
3. Pricing and Taxes
-
All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD), with applicable federal and provincial taxes added at checkout based on your delivery address.
-
Prices may change without notice. The price in effect is the one displayed when you place your order.
-
Promotional pricing applies only during the stated promotional period and only to products included in that promotion.
-
All sale and promotional purchases are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange. See our Return & Refund Policy.
Pricing and description errors
Despite reasonable care, a product may occasionally be listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information. Where this happens we may cancel the transaction, even if your order has been confirmed and your payment method charged, up until the goods are delivered. If cancellation occurs after you have been charged, we will issue a full refund promptly.
4. Orders and Payment
Your order is an offer to purchase. Our confirmation email acknowledges that we have received it, and is not acceptance. A binding contract is formed when we confirm your order is accepted and, for made-to-order pieces, when the manufacturer confirms production. We may decline an order for reasons including unavailability, a pricing or description error, a suspected fraudulent transaction, or an inability to deliver to your address.
Payment is required in full at the time of order unless we agree otherwise in writing. Card details are processed by our payment provider under PCI-DSS standards; Alteriors does not store full card numbers.
Deposits. On larger orders we may accept a deposit instead of payment in full, typically 50% at the time of order with the balance due before delivery. Deposit arrangements are offered at our discretion and agreed in writing. Where an order is cancelled after the 48-hour cancellation window and production has begun, deposits are non-refundable to the extent of costs already committed.
5. Shipping, Returns, and Cancellations
Delivery terms, lead times, and shipping costs are set out in our Shipping & Delivery Policy. Return eligibility, restocking fees, cancellation windows, price adjustments, and damage claims are set out in our Return & Refund Policy. Both form part of these terms.
6. Trade Program
Our Trade Program is open to qualified design professionals, subject to verification of credentials and acceptance at our discretion. Trade pricing is confidential, is provided for use on client projects, and may not be published, shared, or used to resell products in competition with us. We may vary or withdraw trade pricing on reasonable notice.
All Trade Program orders are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange, regardless of brand. Rights in respect of damaged or defective goods are unaffected.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — text, photographs, graphics, logos, page design, and software — is owned by or licensed to Alteriors and protected under the Copyright Act (Canada) and applicable international copyright law. Except as permitted in these terms or by law, you may not reproduce, adapt, store, distribute, print, publish, or create derivative works from any part of it, or commercialize information obtained from it, without our written permission.
The Alteriors name and logo, and the trade marks of the brands we carry, belong to their respective owners. You may not use them as part of your own trade mark or business name, in connection with products or services that are not ours, in a way that is confusing or misleading, or in a way that disparages us. Manufacturer trade marks appear here under our authorization as an authorized dealer and transfer no rights to you.
8. Third-Party Links
This site may link to manufacturer websites, social media, and other third-party pages. These links are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, or privacy practices, and a link does not imply endorsement.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Design guidance, specifications, and lead-time estimates we provide are given in good faith and are general in nature, not professional advice. For structural, electrical, or installation matters, please consult a qualified professional. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available, and you are responsible for your own precautions against viruses and malicious code.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right, remedy, guarantee, or warranty imposed by legislation that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this website or from goods or services supplied through it. Where legislation implies a condition or warranty we cannot exclude, our liability for breach is limited, at our option, to replacing or repairing the goods, supplying equivalent goods, paying the cost of replacement or repair, or — for services — supplying them again or paying the cost of doing so.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Alteriors and its officers, employees, and agents against claims, demands, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of this website, or activity carried out under your account.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for any dispute arising from these terms or your use of this website.
12. General and Contact
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. These terms, together with our Privacy, Shipping, and Return policies, form the entire agreement between you and Alteriors regarding your use of this website.
